Israeli prosecutors have indicted settler Inon Levy on charges of manslaughter, illegal armed entry, and malicious property damage in connection with the July 2025 shooting death of Palestinian activist Odeh Hathalin in the village of Um Qahua in the occupied West Bank.[1] Hathalin had participated in the production of "No Other Land," a documentary that won an Academy Award in 2025.[1]
The indictment marks the first criminal charges brought against an Israeli settler for killing a Palestinian since Hamas's attack on October 7, 2023, according to Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem.[1] Since that date, at least 1,110 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers and settlers combined.[1] Levy had previously faced sanctions from the United Kingdom in 2024 for allegations including use of violence, pointing guns at families, and destroying property.[1]
