Diesel prices have surged past $6 per gallon for the first time, while gasoline prices remain $1.10 per gallon higher than the previous year.1 These elevated energy costs, compounded by trade war tariffs, continue to keep overall food prices stubbornly high across the nation.1 Additionally, Canada accounts for 18.5% of all U.S. agricultural imports in 2025, with the United States purchasing 60.3% of Canadian agricultural exports, making trade tensions a significant factor in food pricing pressures.1
