Former Australian radio broadcaster Alan Jones is facing trial in Sydney's District Court on charges of indecent assault and sexual touching involving six men, with 22 counts in total.[1] During the fifth day of proceedings, an anonymous witness referred to as "J," now in his early 40s, testified that he has no financial motive in bringing allegations against Jones, stating in court: "I don't want to prosecute him. I don't want his money."[1]
The alleged offences span from 2003 to 2020.[1] Witness "J" claimed that inappropriate conduct began during his final year of high school in the early 2000s, when he was a teenager.[1] Jones previously provided financial support to the witness, including weekly payments of hundreds of dollars toward his training, as well as a vehicle and mobile phone.[1] The witness reported the allegations to police after seeing media coverage of Jones's arrest in November 2024.[1] Jones's legal representative, Gabrielle Bashir, SC, suggested the case involves themes of "conflict, betrayal, deception, money, hatred, desperation and opportunism."[1] Jones denies all charges.[1] The trial is being held at Downing Centre in Sydney's District Court.[1]
