The impact varies significantly across the affected nations due to differences in their energy portfolios. Serbia derives approximately 65 percent of its electricity from coal and 25 percent from hydropower, while Slovakia relies on nuclear power for about 60 percent of its supply and hydroelectricity for 20 percent.[1] Austria generates roughly 60 percent of its electricity from water sources.[1] Bulgaria appears relatively better positioned, owing to its substantial battery storage capacity of 3.4 gigawatts with a total storage capability of 8.6 gigawatt-hours, representing 16 percent of its total installed capacity.[1]
