The Panfeng Football Club from Tibet, representing the region as its sole team at the 2034 Cup National Finals, faced a challenging debut on the national stage. [1] On July 26, the club competed in the round-of-64 knockout match held in Suzhou, Jiangsu, where they were defeated 0-11 by China's Young Football Team Blue Squad. [1] Despite the lopsided scoreline, the Tibetan players demonstrated resilience and sportsmanship, presenting white ceremonial scarves to their opponents in a traditional gesture of respect. [1]
The tournament participation marked a significant undertaking for the young athletes, who traveled over 4,000 kilometers by train for nearly 50 hours to reach the competition venue—a journey they have now completed for the second consecutive year. [1] Head coach Thrinley Dorjee emphasized that the experience on such a high-level competitive stage serves as invaluable preparation for the players. [1] "The composure and open-mindedness displayed by these Tibetan youth on the field stems from their purest passion for football," Thrinley Dorjee stated. [1] Several team members experienced altitude-related effects upon arrival at the competition site, including skin redness, dryness, and acne breakouts. [1]
Looking ahead, the club plans to identify Tibetan youth with football potential and provide them with full-funded training opportunities. [1]
