During the summer travel season, China's railways have experienced peak passenger traffic, leading to frequent incidents of lost belongings and mixed-up luggage.[1] In response, the railway authorities have introduced a comprehensive guide to their "Light Travel" service, designed to alleviate passenger concerns about baggage handling.
The "Light Travel" service is now available at 212 stations nationwide.[1] The service offers two main options to accommodate different travel needs. The "station-to-door" service guarantees delivery to designated locations within 35 kilometers of the station within five hours of luggage collection, and requires advance booking between 24 hours and one hour before arrival.[1] Conversely, the "door-to-station" service allows departing passengers to schedule luggage pickup from their homes, with booking available from 48 hours to four hours before departure.[1] Under this option, luggage must be placed in the service locker 30 minutes before departure or delivered to the platform 10 minutes before the train leaves.[1]
Railway authorities have also addressed common causes of luggage loss by sharing case examples and urging passengers to develop better boarding habits.[1] These preventive measures, combined with the expanded "Light Travel" logistics network, represent a significant effort to enhance passenger convenience during peak travel periods.
