Founder Yang Zhilin, born in 1992 in Shantou, Guangdong, is a Tsinghua-Carnegie Mellon University doctoral graduate who received Apple's invitation but chose to return to China to start his venture.1 Yang earned Tsinghua's Special Prize in 2014 and completed his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 2019.1 His team at Dark Side of the Moon comprises over 300 people with an average age under 30, including core K3 contributor Chen Guangyu, who is only 17 years old.1 The technological breakthrough has drawn contrasting reactions from industry leaders: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that American companies "absolutely should" be permitted to use Chinese models,1 while Elon Musk declared that Grok 4.5 "possibly could" surpass Kimi.1
