Legendary Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps made a return to the pool environment a decade after competing in Rio, attending the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California, alongside his wife Nicole and their two sons, Beckett and Maverick.[1] The eight-year-old Beckett has demonstrated strong interest in swimming and is receiving coaching from Bob Bowman, Phelps' longtime coach.[1]
Phelps, who holds 23 Olympic gold medals, expressed a measured approach to his son's budding interest in the sport.[1] "If he wants to be a swimmer, I will support it. I will never push him into it," Phelps stated.[1] The Olympic champion began his own swimming journey at age seven and competed in the Sydney Olympics at fifteen.[1] His six-year-old son Maverick also attended the event.[1]
