A woman has joined a lawsuit against xAI, the artificial intelligence company owned by Elon Musk, claiming that its chatbot Grok was used to transform a photograph of her taken at age 11 into more than 7,000 explicit images.[1] According to her account, her stepfather exploited the tool to create the material, and he subsequently died by suicide two days after the images were discovered during a law enforcement search.[1]
The litigation, initiated by three teenagers from Tennessee, alleges that xAI failed to implement basic safeguards to prevent Grok from being weaponized to generate sexually explicit imagery of real individuals.[1] The plaintiff stated that "unrestricted access to these tools is spreading rapidly, and it is turning everyday life into child sexual abuse," highlighting concerns about the platform's inadequate protections.[1] The case seeks to establish itself as a class action lawsuit.[1]
