The Emerson Rooftop Bar and Club, a prominent venue in South Yarra, has entered into receivership following a pattern of violent criminal incidents that have severely disrupted its operations.[1] The owners filed documents with the corporate regulator on August 13, with Mackay Goodwin appointed as receiver.[1]
Over the preceding six months, the establishment endured three separate attacks. In February, three masked individuals drove a white commercial vehicle into the entrance and set a fire.[1] A loading dock was subsequently targeted by arson in April, and days later the venue was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle.[1] A company spokesperson stated that "recent firebombing, shooting and extortion activities have dealt a significant blow to the business."[1]
The financial toll extends beyond this single location. Six venues operated by the same group have entered receivership as of December 2025, with unsecured creditors owed more than 4 million Australian dollars.[1] The group's seized assets include a 520,000-dollar party boat, two Mercedes-Benz station wagons, and a black 2017 Bentley Continental.[1]
