Australian author Liane Moriarty is preparing to release "Big Little Truths," a sequel to her bestselling novel "Big Little Lies," scheduled for publication in Australia on August 25, 2025.[1] The new work follows the main female characters a decade later as they enter their fifties and their children become teenagers.[1] HBO will adapt the novel into a third season, with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon serving as executive producers.[1]
Moriarty stands among the most successful living Australian authors, with 25 books that have sold 25 million copies worldwide.[1] She holds the distinction of being the only Australian novelist to debut at the top of The New York Times bestseller list and the only Australian author to have three works simultaneously occupy the top position on that list.[1] Eleven of her novels have been adapted for screen, with four becoming streaming series.[1]
The author has recently faced significant health challenges. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021 and received a recurrence diagnosis earlier this year, with plans to undergo three weeks of radiation therapy.[1] Despite this, Moriarty continues her literary career. Her family includes two sisters who are also bestselling authors—Jaclyn Moriarty, who has written 19 novels, and Nicola Moriarty, author of seven books—bringing the family's total published novels to 37.[1]
