Overhead line damage near Redfern station has triggered widespread disruptions across Sydney's rail network during peak hours.[1] Two of six tracks in the Central to Newtown corridor have been rendered unusable, affecting nearly all Sydney suburban and intercity train services.[1] Three trains remain stranded with passengers aboard as a result of the incident.[1]
The disruption has impacted the T1, T2, T3, and T9 lines as well as Blue Mountains services, while the T4 line continues to operate normally.[1] Transport NSW has warned that "delays and service gaps are expected to continue throughout the day, with no current ability to predict when normal service will resume."[1] Authorities have arranged alternative bus services and are encouraging commuters to use Sydney Metro as an alternative.[1]
