The Peel Inn Hotel in Nundle, New South Wales, has been listed for sale, marking the first change of ownership in 165 years.[1] Built in 1860 by William McIlveen, the pub's ownership passed to John Schofield following a legendary poker game in which the previous proprietor wagered and lost the establishment.[1] The Schofield family has retained ownership ever since, until now.
The current owners have decided to sell amid rising investment interest in regional pubs.[1] Robert, a member of the Schofield family who has worked at the bar for more than 60 years, is preparing for retirement.[1] The hotel generated revenue of AUD 2.78 million in 2026.[1] Located at 89 Jenkins Street, the 2,128-square-metre property includes 12 guest rooms, a public bar, restaurant, kitchen, beer garden, and gaming machines.[1] Similar hospitality venues in the region are commanding prices between AUD 5 million and AUD 6 million.[1]
