Actress Ellen Greene is revisiting her iconic role as Audrey for the 40th anniversary of the film adaptation of "Little Shop of Horrors."[1] Now 75 years old, Greene originated the character on stage in 1982 before bringing it to the screen in 1986 under director Frank Oz, where she starred opposite Rick Moranis.[1]
Greene will participate in nationwide anniversary screenings spanning from Seattle on August 18 through Atlanta on November 13.[1] In reflecting on the role's significance to her career, she has recounted stories from the film's creation, including her initial stage compensation of $50 per week and the involvement of composer Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman during auditions.[1] The production also attracted notable observers, with Steve Martin and Mary Tyler Moore attending stage performances.[1]
