British sprinter Amy Hunt has made a commanding start to her medal campaign at the European athletics championships, claiming gold in the 100 meters on Monday and the 200 meters on Thursday.[1] The 24-year-old is targeting a total of four gold medals at the competition and is also in contention for two relay teams.[1]
Hunt arrives at the championships on the back of significant recent achievements. She won silver in the 200 meters at the Tokyo World Championships last September with a time of 22.14 seconds.[1] At the Paris Olympics in 2024, she was part of the British women's 4x100 meter relay team that claimed silver, running the third leg.[1] Earlier in her career, Hunt set the under-18 women's 200 meters world best time of 22.42 seconds in Mannheim, Germany, in June 2019.[1] A Cambridge University alumna who studied English literature, Hunt continues to establish herself as one of Britain's top sprinting talents.[1]
