A Sydney entrepreneur has described a violent assault by his banking partner at an upscale hotel in central France. Callum Forbes was attacked on the evening of July 28 by David Cao, who threw boiling water from a saucepan over him and struck him repeatedly with the pan over a period of several minutes.[1] Forbes sustained severe burns across his body and required dozens of stitches for his injuries, subsequently receiving treatment in intensive care at a French hospital.[1]
The incident occurred at Château de Perreux hotel in Nazelles-Negron in central France.[1] David Cao, 37, a retail value creation manager at ING Bank, fled the scene by rental car following the attack.[1] A manhunt lasting 36 hours ensued before Cao was apprehended at the train station in Lille, a French city near the Belgian border.[1] He has been charged with attempted murder and is being held in custody pending trial.[1] Forbes and Cao, who had been in a relationship for two and a half years, were staying at the hotel together.[1]
