The China Meteorological Administration has issued forecasts indicating significant precipitation systems affecting multiple regions across central, eastern, and southern China.[1] From August 14 to 15, heavy to torrential rainfall is expected in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Guangdong provinces, with localized extremely heavy downpours accompanying strong convective weather phenomena including short-duration intense precipitation and thunderstorm winds.[1] The agency issued a yellow alert for torrential rain as of August 14 at 06:00.[1]
Rainfall has already intensified across several provinces prior to the main weather system.[1] Zhejiang's Huzhou district experienced extremely heavy precipitation, with localized rainfall measurements reaching 250–259.2 millimeters.[1] Southern Jiangsu and southern Guangdong recorded localized heavy downpours ranging from 100 to 160 millimeters.[1] Short-duration intense rainfall produced maximum hourly precipitation rates of 20–50 millimeters, with some areas exceeding 70 millimeters.[1] The most significant rainfall is anticipated to occur on August 14, with the Yangtze River region's eastern sections and the central-eastern portions of South China bearing the primary impact of this weather system through August 15.[1]
