A 17-year-old boy in Massachusetts has been charged with the deaths of his mother and younger brother in what prosecutors allege involved concerning online behavior.[1] Arjun Aravind is accused of fatally striking his 45-year-old mother, Sudha Venkatsan, and his 14-year-old brother, Sidharth Aravind, with a blunt object in their Concord home on Tuesday.[1] The bodies were discovered shortly after 6:30 p.m., with Sidharth found on the first floor and Sudha in the basement.[1]
According to prosecutors, investigators found evidence that Aravind had recently used ChatGPT to search for and create fictional stories about killing family members.[1] Prosecutor Marian Ryan stated: "Arjun has been demonstrating some concerning behavior recently, including using the internet and ChatGPT to search theoretical ideas or fictional stories about killing family members."[1] Aravind fled approximately 13 miles from the scene and was apprehended around 3:40 a.m. the following morning.[1]
The teenager faces multiple charges including two counts of murder, two counts of assault and battery on a family member, two counts of assault and battery, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and motor vehicle theft.[1] He is being held pending trial.[1]
