Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he is actively engaging with relevant parties to acquire additional air defense missiles, particularly U.S. Patriot interceptors, by exchanging certain conditions.[1] According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine's current inventory of Patriot interceptors represents only 1% of the U.S. stockpile.[1] He emphasized that if the United States were to provide 5% of its existing inventory, Ukraine could "survive this winter and save people's lives," while obtaining 10% would enable the country to intercept all Russian ballistic missiles.[1]
Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine's interceptor supplies this year amount to approximately 40% of 2025 levels, while Russia can deploy roughly twice as many ballistic missiles monthly compared to previous rates.[1] The global supply of Patriot interceptors has come under strain due to the U.S.-Iran conflict, further complicating Ukraine's efforts to strengthen its air defense capabilities.[1]
