Shenzhen's Futian District held its Ninth Party Congress, showcasing five years of transformative growth and outlining ambitious plans for the coming decade.[1] The district has successfully navigated space constraints and restructuring challenges to expand its economic scale from 500 billion yuan to 642 billion yuan.[1] This expansion has positioned Futian as a municipal benchmark across multiple performance metrics: the district leads the city in GDP per unit of land area, total import and export volume, financial sector value-added output, and entrepreneurial density.[1]
The district's industrial restructuring has yielded tangible results, with strategic emerging industries now accounting for 19.8% of GDP, up from 13.0% previously.[1] Industrial output has doubled its share of the total economy, rising from 3.8% to 7.7%.[1] The financial sector has demonstrated particular strength, achieving an average annual growth rate of 8.5%, with 2025 marking the fastest expansion in nearly 16 years.[1] In the first half of 2026, Futian recorded GDP growth of 8.3%, ranking first among all administrative districts in the city.[1]
Looking forward, Futian has set its sights on three core pillar industries—science and technology innovation, finance, and fashion—with a target of reaching 830 billion yuan in GDP by 2030.[1] To support this trajectory, the district plans to invest over 350 billion yuan cumulatively over the next five years.[1]
