Former Australian broadcaster Alan Jones is standing trial on 22 charges, including 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of non-consensual sexual contact spanning from 2003 to 2020.[1] The allegations involve six separate complainants, with the court hearing testimony from the mother of one accuser, identified as "J," who told her son: "I should have protected you."[1]
The mother's evidence revealed that her son initially denied experiencing any improper conduct when he first disclosed the matter to her, only to admit the following year that he had been dishonest.[1] According to court proceedings, the alleged inappropriate touching experienced by complainant J occurred between ages 17 and 21.[1] A former coach of the complainant also testified, stating that Jones had purchased a mobile phone valued at approximately 1,500 dollars and a vehicle for the young man, in addition to providing pocket money.[1] Jones has categorically denied all charges brought against him.[1]
The trial is expected to continue with another complainant, identified as "C," scheduled to give evidence on Friday, with allegations that Jones engaged in inappropriate contact with this individual both at the radio station and in an apartment elevator.[1]
