Hyundai has begun charging customers extra for digital instrument cluster displays on its latest vehicles in the Korean market. 1 On the new-generation Avante, buyers of the base model must pay an additional 350,000 Korean won (approximately $255) to add a 9.9-inch digital dashboard screen. 1 The situation is more restrictive for the Ioniq 3 electric vehicle, where the base model does not offer the instrument cluster display as an option at all; customers must spend $5,000 to upgrade to a higher trim level in order to access it. 1
Hyundai plans to equip 20 million vehicles worldwide with its Pleos Connect system by the end of the current decade, which combines a central touchscreen with the 9.9-inch instrument display. 1 The U.S. market currently does not have these systems configured on Hyundai, Kia, or Genesis vehicles. 1
