Resort officials argue that this existing infrastructure could provide meaningful support to firefighting efforts. Jürg Klopfenstein noted that "we can use the infrastructure to help firefighters. Helicopters can use our water reservoirs to refill."[1] The water systems could be deployed to create firebreaks and supply water to aerial firefighting operations. Adelboden Mayor Willy Schranz emphasized the need for preparedness, stating: "We must be ready, because I am convinced this will not be the last summer like this."[1] Swiss authorities have assessed that nearly all regions of the country face high wildfire risk.[1]
