Shaikh cited multiple recent incidents to illustrate the threat landscape, including the Bondi Beach shooting in December, an October 2025 attack on a Manchester synagogue, and incidents of arson and gunfire targeting Jewish schools in Canada [1]. He emphasized that as long as underlying grievances persist, such attacks will continue, stating that "so long as the grievance continues to be there, these attacks will continue" [1]. Shaikh cautioned against the very division that terrorist adversaries seek to exploit, warning that "social division, that's exactly what our adversary wants" [1]. He underscored the importance of understanding how young people become vulnerable to dangerous ideologies and called for intervention strategies to counter radicalization while preventing further polarization within Australian society [1]. Notably, Shaikh pointed to a Muslim man who intervened to prevent the Bondi attacker from causing additional harm [1].
