The earthquake's devastation was concentrated in major population centers, with Pereira accounting for 79 deaths and Cali for 95 deaths.[1] In Pereira alone, at least 92 buildings collapsed, leaving 15 people trapped and 37 missing.[1] Cali faced an even more dire situation, with over 200 people still trapped in rubble, though 87 had already been rescued.[1] The seismic event triggered more than 100 aftershocks across the region.[1]
