Australian chiropractor Ian Rosborough has been convicted of sexual offenses and child grooming following his controversial treatment of a newborn in 2016.[1] In September 2024, Melbourne Magistrates' Court found him guilty on four counts of sexual assault and child grooming related to a then-17-year-old dance student named Sarah Rose, sentencing him to two years of community correction.[1] Rosborough's conduct toward the teenager included sexual harassment and abuse, with the chiropractor exploiting his position by pressuring her to undress in a sauna under the pretext of assisting with weight loss.[1]
The 2016 incident that first drew international scrutiny involved Rosborough performing spinal adjustments on a four-day-old infant, footage of which sparked global outrage over the practice's safety.[1] Following this controversy, all Australian chiropractors were subsequently banned from manipulating the spines of children under two years of age.[1] At least a second victim has come forward with allegations spanning multiple years of sexual abuse and grooming, submitting a 13-page statement to police.[1] The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has suspended Rosborough's chiropractic license.[1]
