A proposal has emerged in Los Alamos to establish a museum dedicated to the Black Hole, a legendary shop that showcased artifacts collected from the local National Laboratory.1 The museum would preserve the legacy of Ed Grothers, a mechanic at Los Alamos National Laboratory since the late 1940s, whose eclectic shop became a distinctive landmark drawing visitors from around the world over many decades.1
Documentary photographer Janire Najera is spearheading the curatorial vision for the exhibition, building on her prior work documenting Grothers' story through the 2019 book Atomic Ed, a short documentary film, and photography exhibitions that have been displayed in Cardiff, Wales and Logroño, Spain.1 The proposed museum would feature a self-guided, sealed display design and is being considered for installation at Los Alamos Airport.1 The exhibition aims to tell the history of the nuclear weapons project alongside the legacy of anti-nuclear activism represented by Grothers' work.1
