A suspected criminal gang operating in Thailand's Pattaya region has been linked to the murders of at least two separate groups, igniting widespread alarm in the area.[1] Two Russian siblings—22-year-old Diana and 17-year-old Roman—went missing on July 26 after setting out on a motorcycle, only to be discovered dead days later.[1] Diana sent an emergency message to her mother approximately 20 minutes after leaving home.[1] The motorcycle was located three days after their disappearance, dismantled and buried in woodland roughly six kilometers east of the city.[1] Roman sustained gunshot wounds to the head and abdomen, while Diana showed signs of being beaten before being placed atop her brother's body.[1]
In the same area, authorities also recovered the bodies of a Thai family comprising parents Wichian and Jantana alongside their 18-year-old daughter Nichapa.[1] All three had been bound and shot.[1] Investigators have confirmed the involvement of at least four male suspects in the crimes, with one identified as Pong, who carries a history of violent offenses and was recently released after serving a seven-year prison sentence.[1] The suspects are believed to have posed as police officers to carry out robberies and murders, suggesting a coordinated criminal operation.[1] Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the scene and expressed shock at the brutality of the crimes.[1]
