The trial of former Australian broadcaster Alan Jones has been temporarily halted after prosecutors unexpectedly raised a legal matter in court.[1] On Wednesday morning, the prosecution contacted the defense team indicating a desire to modify portions of their case statement.[1] Judge Glenn Walsh adjourned proceedings until 2 p.m. to allow time for legal argument on the matter.[1]
Jones faces 22 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault without consent, with allegations stemming from six male complainants spanning from 2003 to 2020.[1] One complainant, identified as 'J', alleges inappropriate conduct occurred approximately 20 years ago, with his former partner previously testifying that he appeared severely distressed at the time.[1] Following Jones's arrest in 2024, the complainant stated he wanted to come forward to tell his story.[1] Another complainant, 'C', has alleged that Jones touched his genitals while driving him home and kissed him on the lips in an apartment elevator.[1] Jones has categorically denied all charges against him.[1]
