On August 11, American entrepreneur Elon Musk posted on social media that "China is awesome" and "strongly encouraged everyone to visit" the country.[1] His mother, Maye Musk, subsequently endorsed his remarks, describing Chinese cities as charming, clean, and safe, while praising the politeness and diligence of the local people.[1]
Maye Musk revealed that she travels to China almost every month and shares her experiences on social media.[1] In her own statement, she elaborated that "every city has its own charm with culturally distinctive attractions," and emphasized that "buildings and streets are clean, tidy, and well-maintained," while noting that "people are polite, hardworking, and respectful of others," and that she feels safe in the country.[1] In March 2023, her travels had included visits to Guangzhou, Xiamen, Chengdu, Suzhou, Huzhou, and Shanghai.[1]
