The Wenwu Emperor Temple, originally constructed during the Qing Dynasty, underwent protective restoration in 2019 and was subsequently transformed into the Pingshan City Reading Room[1]. In May 2023, the site received designation as Shenzhen's Family Education and Family Values Practice Education Base[1]. The temple now serves as a community education hub where young participants engage in studying classical texts such as the Analects alongside physical training.
The surrounding pocket park has been developed in phases to support the site's new educational mission[1]. The first phase, encompassing approximately 1,360 square meters, officially opened in January 2026, followed by a tree-planting community event in May 2026 that added 13 landscape trees[1]. The second phase encompasses 1,625 square meters, bringing the combined area to approximately 3,985 square meters[1]. A planned third phase, covering roughly 9,000 square meters, will include public parking facilities[1].
