Trainer Luke Price has charted a comeback path for five-year-old Monte Veebee, starting with an entry in the Chase The Dream Handicap (1,250 metres) at Canterbury.[1] Price envisions the race as a stepping stone toward more ambitious targets, with the Provincial-Midway Championships series final—carrying a purse of $1 million—forming a key part of his autumn plans.[1] The trainer has also set his sights on the Four Pillars Midway (1,500 metres), a Benchmark 68-class event worth $500,000.[1]
Monte Veebee will be ridden by Grant Buckley in the Canterbury outing.[1] The horse carries an impressive record, having secured a maiden victory for the Price training partnership by 6¼ lengths, before adding a Class 1 success under Bjorn Baker's care by 4¼ lengths.[1] Price's ambitions extend beyond immediate targets. "I think we've got a city class horse back," he stated, adding, "He could be a good Four Pillars horse, too, but I hope his benchmark goes beyond that."[1]
