China's Ministry of Public Security coordinated a nationwide crackdown operation that resulted in the dismantling of more than 1,000 criminal organizations and the arrest of over 8,200 suspects within approximately ten days [1]. The operation, which broke more than 5,400 criminal cases, was launched following the Communist Party's announcement in late July of a year-long "deepened campaign against organized and illegal criminal activities" [1].
The coordinated enforcement effort targeted various forms of emerging organized crime across multiple regions [1]. In Zhejiang, authorities dismantled a 109-member online loan fraud ring; in Shandong, police took down a 27-member extortion gang; in Henan, investigators arrested 41 individuals operating online shop extortion schemes; and in Guangdong, eight separate construction site extortion organizations comprising 65 people were broken up [1].
