Western Europe experienced particularly severe conditions, recording average temperatures of 21.62°C across June and July—2.79°C above normal—triggering widespread extreme wildfires throughout the region.[1] The United Kingdom endured its driest July in 190 years.[1] According to climate experts, roughly one-third of current sea level rise originates from thermal expansion of warming ocean water.[1]
Samantha Burgess characterized the findings as clear evidence of how "climate change is intensifying heat extremes, with heat waves and droughts becoming increasingly self-reinforcing."[1] Mike Kendon added that "we are now living in a time of historic and unprecedented change."[1]
