London's Metropolitan Police conducted a major crackdown on uninsured and dangerous driving in areas surrounding Hyde Park, resulting in the seizure of a Dubai-registered Ferrari Monza SP2 valued at £3.7 million.[1] The vehicle was confiscated after its driver was found operating on a provisional license without insurance, and a police officer subsequently drove the supercar to a police compound.[1]
The operation yielded a total of 90 vehicles with a combined value exceeding £8 million, marking the highest number of cars and greatest total value seized in the five-year history of this enforcement initiative.[1] Among the confiscated vehicles, 15 were seized under new powers relating to anti-social behaviour.[1] The Ferrari Monza SP2 represents an exceptionally rare vehicle, with only 499 models produced worldwide.[1]
Angus Eaton, chief executive of the Motor Insurers' Bureau, stated: "operations like this demonstrate that the rules apply to all drivers, regardless of the value of the vehicle they are driving."[1]
