Wang Ji, a researcher at the School of Computer Science at the National University of Defense Technology, suffered a sudden aortic dissection on January 23, 2013, and was rushed to Xiangya Hospital [1]. The emergency surgery lasted 13 hours, followed by more than a dozen additional procedures between January 23 and July 1, 2013 [1]. As a result of the surgical interventions, Wang Ji underwent bilateral high-level amputation of both lower limbs [1].
Despite this severe setback, Wang Ji demonstrated remarkable resilience. After receiving support from his family and society, he returned to his work position following the Spring Festival in 2015, continuing his research in highly reliable software technology [1]. His mother, Liu Guizhi, reflected on his determination, saying: "There are many people who are physically disabled but spiritually strong; if you can face it, everyone will help you and give you a push" [1]. Wang Ji himself offers encouragement to young people, stating: "Do not fear setbacks, do not fear difficulties" [1].
