Typhoon Baiyun made landfall in China, triggering widespread flooding across Shanghai with water accumulation reaching 15 to 30 centimeters in low-lying areas.[1] As of the afternoon of August 9, authorities had relocated and sheltered 215,600 residents from dangerous zones throughout the city.[1]
Early on August 10, the typhoon's center was positioned in Longquan, Lishui, Zhejiang Province, maintaining tropical storm intensity with maximum winds of force 9.[1] Multiple districts in Shanghai, including Qingpu, Jiading, Jinshan, Minhang, and Pudong New Area, issued orange-level rainstorm warnings.[1] Areas particularly vulnerable to water accumulation included Pudong, Baoshan, Minhang, Jiading, Jinshan, Fengxian, Songjiang, and Qingpu districts.[1] Transportation disruptions accompanied the severe weather, with several trains on the Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway and Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway suspending service toward Hangzhou and Shanghai.[1]
