Charles Perrottet, a BP executive and influential figure within the NSW Liberal Party's right wing, testified before the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) on Monday in the Operation Rosny investigation, openly acknowledging a pattern of deception toward developer Jean Nassif. 1 Perrottet admitted to regularly misleading Nassif, stating "I tell Jean lots of things" and "I would regularly mislead him," while also contending that "in politics, sometimes what you tell people is not 100 percent truthful." 1

At the center of the inquiry is an alleged $2 million bribe from Nassif to Perrottet and two other Liberal Party members, with funds directed to an account controlled by Perrottet's wife, Anita, through a shell company called Beckington. 1 Perrottet claimed he had fabricated a government contact within the planning development department to obtain information for Nassif, ultimately admitting "in the end, I made it up." 1 In January 2021, Nassif texted Perrottet asking if he could "come pick up the upcoming primary election assistance," followed by a $148,500 check that same day. 1 While Anita Perrottet previously asserted that $660,999 deposited into the account represented legitimate work payments from Beckington, Charles's testimony revealed that portions of the funds actually provided expedited advisory services for Nassif's projects. 1 During cross-examination, ICAC counsel Peggy Dwyer questioned whether Perrottet was "lying about lying itself." 1
