On August 8, Shenzhen organized a media tour marking the 100-day countdown to the APEC conference, highlighting the city's role as an international trade and logistics hub [1]. The event demonstrated Shenzhen's openness across economic cooperation, port operations, and visitor experiences.
Yantian International Container Terminal operates approximately 100 shipping routes weekly that connect to ports worldwide, with 53 of these routes serving APEC member economies [1]. The terminal handles more than one-third of Guangdong Province's total foreign trade imports and exports, as well as over one-quarter of China's exports to the United States [1]. From January through May this year, mainland enterprises shipped goods worth 395.8 billion yuan through Yantian Port to other APEC member economies, representing more than half of the port's total trade volume during that period [1].
Beyond port operations, Shenzhen has expanded its international engagement through digital platforms and tourism infrastructure. The Deep Sea E-Station outbound platform has served over 1,900 enterprises seeking to expand internationally, facilitating 224 overseas investment projects with cumulative actual investments exceeding 1.75 billion US dollars [1]. Additionally, the city has recorded strong growth in inbound visitors, with foreign nationals entering and exiting through Shenzhen ports exceeding 5 million persons in 2024 to date, achieving this milestone 58 days ahead of the 2025 annual target [1]. Shenzhen's duty-free shopping district opened in August, further enhancing the city's appeal to international travelers [1].
