Tom Tugendhat, the former security minister, will assume the role of shadow foreign secretary, replacing Priti Patel 1. Patel is departing the position to take on a new international role, stating: "I'm pleased to continue supporting Kemi and the Conservative party in a new role strengthening our relationships with fellow conservatives and centre-right parties around the world" 1. Meanwhile, James Cleverly, the shadow communities secretary, has resigned to run for Mayor of London 1.

The reshuffle will also see Stuart Andrew removed from his position as shadow health secretary and return to the back benches 1. Additionally, Claire Coutinho is taking maternity leave for her second child, and Helen Grant has requested to leave the front bench of the shadow cabinet 1.
