Brisbane residents and visitors have a diverse array of entertainment options to explore on Ekka People's Day, Wednesday, August 12.[1] The Royal Queensland Show, commonly known as Ekka, will operate from 9am to 9pm through August 16,[1] featuring a 150-year anniversary fashion showcase on the main stage, a parade scheduled for 1:30pm, and a fireworks display.[1]
Cultural venues across the city are hosting special programming during the holiday period. Performance tickets range from $69 for the musical The Book of Mormon to $72 for the theatrical production Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night.[1] Major attractions participating in the holiday programming include the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane Art Gallery, HOTA, and Brisbane Airport, among other venues.[1] Many exhibitions and activities extend beyond the holiday itself, running through dates ranging from August 16 to October 5.[1]
