The Shuangjiang Kou Hydroelectric Station on the Dadu River in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province, has brought all three of its initial turbine units into commercial operation 1. The facility holds the distinction of being the world's highest dam, with a height of 315 meters 1.
The station has a total installed capacity of 2 million kilowatts and operates four single-unit turbines, each with a capacity of 500,000 kilowatts 1. Following the commissioning of the first unit in June, the remaining three units were successively brought online over a two-month period 1. Since beginning operations, the facility has cumulatively delivered 500 million kilowatt-hours of clean hydroelectric power 1. Once all units are fully operational, the station is projected to generate approximately 7.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually 1, while providing an additional 6.6 billion kilowatt-hours of generation benefit to downstream cascade power stations each year 1.
