Since July, several Chinese listed companies have announced receiving tariff refunds from the United States. [1] These refunds stem from a February ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that determined the International Emergency Economic Powers Act did not authorize the president to impose sweeping tariffs. [1] Following this decision, the U.S. International Trade Court ordered customs authorities to process related refunds. [1]
By the end of July, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection had completed processing refunds totaling approximately $100 billion in tariffs. [1] The first phase of refund operations commenced on April 20, with initial payments distributed around May 11. [1]
