Stefon Diggs has signed with the Washington Commanders, completing a full-circle moment in his NFL career by joining his hometown team.[1] The 32-year-old wide receiver, who hails from Gaithersburg, Maryland, was overlooked by multiple NFL teams in the 2015 draft before being selected in the fifth round by the Minnesota Vikings.[1] After establishing himself as a reliable receiving target across stops with the Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, and New England Patriots, Diggs now returns to the Washington area to fill the Commanders' need for a second receiving option.[1]
Diggs brings significant experience and production to the young Commanders offense, particularly to support quarterback Jayden Daniels, who won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024.[1] In the 2025 season, Diggs recorded 85 receptions with 51 resulting in first downs, demonstrating his continued ability to move the chains.[1] His career accomplishments include four Pro Bowl selections, and he has developed a track record of helping young quarterbacks improve, having worked with Drake Maye and Josh Allen in previous stops.[1] Diggs participated in both individual and team workouts on the first day of training camp on Friday in Ashburn, Virginia.[1]
