Essendon Bombers has advanced its head coaching recruitment process with formal interview presentations from two prominent candidates.[1] James Hird, a club legend, completed his interview mid-week, while Mark McVeigh delivered his presentation to the selection panel on Friday.[1] Each formal interview lasted two and a half hours.[1]
The five-member interview committee comprises club chairman Andrew Welsh, chief executive Tim Roberts, football director Ted Richards, vice-chairman Anthony Di Pietro, and talent and culture general manager Caroline Monzon.[1] Four candidates have already been assessed by club advisors Kevin Muscat and John Wardrop in preliminary discussions, with Muscat spending over 90 minutes exploring coaching philosophy and Wardrop focusing on football-specific matters.[1] The other two contenders in the running are Jamie Graham and Murray Davis.[1] Interim head coach Dean Solomon chose not to pursue the position this week.[1] The club is expected to make a final decision as early as next week.[1] Essendon has recorded only two wins this season and sits at the bottom of the ladder.[1]
