Pollen Robotics, in partnership with Hugging Face, has launched Microduck, an open-source bipedal robot standing 25 centimeters tall and weighing 800 grams, which is now available for pre-order 1. The hardware features 15 motors, a camera, LiDAR, and two IMUs 1. Out of the box, the robot includes seven pre-trained behavior policies that allow it to walk, sit, kick a ball, grasp objects, roller skate, and stand up autonomously 1. Additionally, the robot's onboard policy loop runs at a frequency of 50 Hz 1.
The system allows users to train their own policies via reinforcement learning within the MuJoCo physics simulation environment before deploying them to the physical hardware 1.
