美国对英国直接行动组织“巴勒斯坦行动”实施制裁

The U.S. Department of the Treasury sanctioned the UK-based direct action group Palestine Action on Wednesday, designating it as a "specially designated global terrorist" and freezing its assets 1. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, "Far-left extremists, their fronts, and their enablers should be on notice: we will bring the full weight of our economic tools to bear" 1.

The Treasury Department stated that the organization has supported multiple terrorist acts since July 2020, including harming UK law enforcement officers, damaging military facilities, and causing millions of dollars in losses 1. This U.S. designation follows the group's ban in July last year, when it became the first direct action group to be prohibited under the UK's Terrorism Act 1. Palestine Action is currently pursuing a legal challenge against the UK ban, with the UK Supreme Court scheduled to hear the case in November 1.

Reacting to the U.S. measures, Huda Ammori, co-founder of Palestine Action, criticized the Trump administration for following the UK's lead in suppressing the Palestinian freedom movement 1. The group's history of direct action also includes an incident in March last year, when protesters vandalized and graffitied Trump's Turnberry golf course in Scotland 1.
