On August 27, 2025, a humanoid robot named Tiangong Ultra broke the 100-meter sprint record for the second consecutive day at the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, achieving a final time of 8.84 seconds 1. The robot was developed by the Beijing Embodied Intelligence Innovation Center, also known as X-Humanoid, which was established in Beijing in 2023 1. Prior to the final run, the Tiangong Ultra model recorded times of 8.86 seconds the previous day and 9.39 seconds four days earlier, meaning all three records were set by the same model of humanoid robot, Tiangong Ultra 1. During the event, multiple robots crashed into walls and emitted sparks after crossing the finish line 1. Staff used fire extinguishers to handle the situation and carried the machines away from the scene 1.
