Jean-Claude Perrottet, brother of former New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet, testified before an independent anti-corruption inquiry that he could not remember the marketing services he allegedly provided to Beckington, despite receiving monthly payments of $5,000 Australian dollars over five months beginning in May 2021.[1] The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is investigating whether Perrottet and others unlawfully accepted political donations from prohibited donors, including hotel owner Michael O'Hara.[1]
Perrottet was employed at Medallion Financial with an annual salary of $55,000 Australian dollars plus brokerage commissions at the time he began receiving payments from Beckington, which was founded by Christian Ellis and Jeremy Greenwood.[1] He was dismissed from his position at a Catholic school in New South Wales approximately one month after his promotion in June.[1]
The ICAC inquiry has also examined text messages suggesting that federal Opposition Leader Angus Taylor may have paid money to the right-wing faction known as the Reformers or refused to do so, despite Taylor's prior denials of any financial transfers to the group.[2]
