A 38-year-old California resident was arrested on suspicion of illegal weapons possession and suspicious activity at Donald Trump's Los Angeles golf club, facing multiple charges including a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon and two felony allegations.[1] Law enforcement discovered the man, identified as Janinean John Taher, conducting photography, video recording, and security surveillance at the facility on July 31 and August 2, just days before Trump was scheduled to visit the club on August 4 for a fundraising event.[1]
During a vehicle search, authorities located a loaded 9-millimeter handgun, a badge, and binoculars.[1] A subsequent search of Taher's residence in Downey uncovered additional weapons including a .45-caliber handgun, body armor, and an illegally modified AR-type pistol.[1] Among the seized items was a rifle with its barrel illegally shortened from 14 inches to 10 inches.[1] According to court records, Taher previously served as a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 2008 to 2016.[1]
